    ¿WHAT IS APITHERAPY?

Apitherapy or bee venom therapy, involves the use of products from the common honeybee for therapeutic purposes (Latin apis means "bee"). Bee venom,  raw honey, bee pollen, royal jelly, and propolis are just a few products generally considered to have medicinal effects. These products are said to be effective against a wide range of ailments, from arthritis and chronic pain to multiple sclerosis.

    ¿HOW DOES IT WORK?

Bee venom is administered by an actual bee sting. Chemical studies show that bee venom contains a number of powerful anti-inflammatory substances, including adolapin and melittin, said to be a hundred times more powerful than hydrocortisone, melittin stimulates the production of cortisol, a natural steroid that also acts as an anti-inflammatory. Not surprisingly, bee venom therapy (or BVT) is often used for conditions that involve inflammation, such as tendonitis, bursitis, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis.

    PROCEDURE

During your first visit, a small allergy test is required. This test poses no harm; if results are favorable, two additional bee stings are administered.

    ¿WHAT IF I AM ALLERGIC?

A specialized procedure has been successfully used to treat allergic individuals. After this preliminary treatment, you can proceed with the regular therapy.

    ¿IS IT PAINFUL?

A special technique is employed to significantly minimize pain. Ice is used to numb the skin, making the therapy more comfortable. Remember, sometimes the disease is more painful than the treatment!

    ¿DOES IT TREAT EVERYTHING?

This therapy is based on a simple principle: enhancing your immune system to function as intended: repair and protect your body against diseases.

    ¿IS IT EXPENSIVE?

Apitherapy sessions are held once or twice a week, depending on previous arrangements. The cost per session is $40 USD. Starting in the second week, the number of bee stings will increase by two each week up to a limit determined by the therapist; however, the cost per session remains the same.

    IMPORTANT NOTES

The average life of a bee is thirty to forty days, depending on the time of year. During the summer they live shorter lives, and during the winter they live longer.

To minimize impact, only older bees nearing the end of their natural life cycle are used for therapy.

Apart from the great benefits we receive from bees, they also improve our health with the properties of their venom.

It is not yet known exactly what is killing the bees, whether the large telecommunication corporations (cell phones, radio, microwaves, etc.), or the large corporations that manufacture the pesticides used in agriculture, or both.
